Plan Your Perfect
Cozumel Port Day
Whether you have 2 hours or a full day, we'll show you exactly how to make the most of your Cozumel stop. Expert itineraries from a family that's been doing this for 28+ years.
For a 4-hour Cozumel port stop, book a snorkel tour ($50) with free pier pickup, 3 reef stops, El Cielo sandbar, and open bar — with 60+ minutes of buffer before your ship departs. For 2 hours, walk downtown from Punta Langosta pier for shopping and fish tacos. Full-day visitors can combine snorkeling with a jeep tour or beach club.
2-Hour Port Day: Walk & Explore
Short port stop? No problem. You can see downtown Cozumel, grab authentic food, and pick up souvenirs — all within walking distance of the cruise piers.
Disembark & exit pier
Follow signs to ground transportation. Have your ship card ready.
Walk to downtown Cozumel
From Punta Langosta pier, you're already downtown. From International Pier, grab a $5 taxi or walk 15 minutes.
Explore the Malecón & shops
Stroll the waterfront boardwalk. Browse authentic Mexican crafts, jewelry, and souvenirs. Negotiate — 30% off asking price is standard.
Lunch at a local restaurant
Try La Candela or Guido's for authentic Mexican cuisine. Fish tacos: $5–8. Full meal: $12–18.
Quick beach stop or museum
San Miguel beach is a short walk. Or visit the Cozumel Museum ($5 entry) for Mayan history.
Head back to pier
Leave 15 minutes buffer. Your ship will NOT wait. All-aboard is typically 30 minutes before departure.
Timing Tip
Always be back at the pier 30 minutes before all-aboard time. Your ship will leave without you — it happens every week in Cozumel.
4-Hour Port Day: Snorkel Adventure
This is what 80% of our guests do — and what we recommend for most cruise passengers. You'll snorkel two world-class reefs, swim at El Cielo, enjoy an open bar, and still be back at your ship with time to spare.
Disembark & meet your guide
Our guides meet you right at the pier exit with a sign. Free pier pickup — no taxi needed.
Transfer to marina
Short 10-minute ride to our private marina. Complimentary bottled water on the van.
Board your snorkel boat
Small group (max 12 people). All snorkel gear provided. Safety briefing from your captain.
Snorkel Palancar Reef
World-famous reef with massive coral formations, sea turtles, eagle rays, and tropical fish. 45 minutes in the water.
Snorkel Colombia Reef
Deeper reef with stunning wall formations. Nurse sharks, moray eels, and vibrant coral gardens. 40 minutes.
El Cielo sandbar & open bar
Wade in waist-deep crystal water over white sand. Unlimited beer, tequila, sodas. Fresh guacamole made on the boat.
Return to marina & transfer
Dry off on the ride back. Our van returns you directly to your cruise pier.
Back at your ship
Plenty of time before all-aboard. Grab a souvenir on the pier if you want.
This Itinerary = Our Snorkel Tour

Insider Money-Saving Tips
Book direct, not through the cruise line
Save $30–80 per person. Cruise ships mark up excursions 50–100%. Same tours, same guides, half the price.
Bring cash for tips and shopping
ATMs charge $5–8 fees. Bring $40–60 cash per person for tips ($5–10/guide), lunch, and souvenirs.
Skip the pier taxi — book tours with pickup
Save $8–16 round trip. All our tours include free pier pickup and return.
Negotiate at shops
30% off asking price is standard for crafts and jewelry. Say 'es mucho' (it's too much) and counter-offer.
Eat where locals eat
Downtown restaurants are 40% cheaper than pier-side tourist traps. Walk 2 blocks inland for authentic food at half the price.
Don't exchange money at the pier
Worst rates on the island. Use USD everywhere or withdraw pesos from an ATM downtown (Banorte or Santander have lowest fees).
What to Bring on Your Port Day
Reef-safe sunscreen
Regular sunscreen is banned in Cozumel marine parks. Biodegradable only — buy before you arrive.
Waterproof phone case
You'll want photos at El Cielo and the reefs. $10 cases work fine.
Cash (USD accepted)
$40–60 per person for tips, lunch, souvenirs. ATMs available but charge fees.
Ship card & photo ID
You need your cruise card to re-board. Bring a copy of your passport, not the original.
Comfortable water shoes
Rocky entry points at some beaches. Reef shoes protect your feet.
Light cover-up
Some restaurants require shirts. A light cover-up works for everything.
