About This Tour
Why Our Fishing Charter Is #1 in Cozumel
Everyone says they provide the best deep sea fishing in Cozumel — but we have nearly three decades of results to back it up. Our family has been fishing these Caribbean waters since 1996, and in 28-plus years we have built a reputation that no other charter on the island can match. We are consistently recognized as the top fishing charter in Cozumel, not because we say so, but because our guests return year after year and send their friends and family to us. Fishing these waters is not something we do for a season — it is our family's legacy. We know every current, every seasonal migration route, every underwater formation where the big fish hold. That generational knowledge is what separates a genuinely great fishing day from an average one. We focus completely on our guests, accommodating any request, adjusting the day to fit your group, and making sure that whether you are a seasoned angler or have never held a rod in your life, you leave with memories that last a lifetime. Vacation does not come around every day, and we treat every single charter as if it were the most important trip of the year — because to our guests, it is.
What You Will Catch
The Cozumel Channel is one of the most productive stretches of water in the entire Caribbean, and it sits directly at our doorstep. Deep cold-water currents push up against the island's reef walls, concentrating baitfish and drawing in the largest pelagic species in the Western Atlantic. This is why Cozumel has long been recognized as a world-class billfish destination and hosts some of the most prestigious offshore fishing tournaments in the region.
Blue Marlin are the crown jewel of Cozumel fishing. Running between 200 and 500 pounds — and occasionally exceeding that — these fish are powerful, fast, and spectacular on the surface. Peak blue marlin season runs March through July, when warm current pushes the heaviest concentrations past the island. Sailfish are equally prized and even more acrobatic. Expect fish in the 40-to-100-pound range, with the March-through-June window being the most productive. A sailfish going full aerial 100 yards behind the boat is something you will never forget.
Dorado, also called Mahi-Mahi, are arguably the most visually stunning fish in the ocean. Their electric blue-green-gold coloring is unlike anything else. We target dorado from April through September, when they are most abundant along weed lines and current edges. They run 10 to 40 pounds on average and are aggressive, fast strikers — perfect for anglers who want non-stop action. Wahoo are the speed demons of the deep. Built like missiles, wahoo can exceed 60 miles per hour and will strip line off a reel faster than almost any other species. We target them from October through March, though they are present year-round in Cozumel waters. Yellowfin Tuna are available throughout the year and are one of the most powerful fish pound-for-pound in the ocean. A 100-pound yellowfin on standup tackle is a serious physical challenge — and one of the most rewarding fights in fishing. Barracuda and Amberjack are present year-round and offer excellent action when the big pelagics are between bites. Both species are hard fighters and barracuda in particular are a thrill to watch strike a topwater lure at full speed.
Best Time to Fish in Cozumel
Every season in Cozumel offers excellent offshore fishing, but knowing the seasonal patterns helps you target the right species at peak times. Water temperatures around the island range from 78 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit year-round, which keeps fish active and well-fed regardless of month.
Spring — March through May — is the absolute prime season. This is billfish season. Blue marlin and sailfish are at their heaviest concentrations, dorado are beginning to school up, and the weather is generally calm and clear. If big game is your goal, spring is the time to book. Summer — June through August — transitions into peak dorado season. Mahi-Mahi are at their most abundant and active, wahoo begin building up as the season progresses, and blue water conditions are typically spectacular. Water visibility is at its annual best. Fall — September through November — is wahoo season. Cozumel produces some of the best wahoo fishing in the Caribbean during this window, and yellowfin tuna begin arriving in stronger numbers. It is also a great time to fish because the summer crowds have thinned and the boats are fewer. Winter — December through February — delivers excellent wahoo and tuna action with less competition from other vessels. Sailfish are beginning their build-up toward spring peaks. Some of our most productive days have come in January and February when conditions are right and the fish are stacked up.
Three Charter Options to Fit Your Day
We offer three private charter lengths so you can match the trip to your schedule, whether you are a cruise passenger with a tight turnaround or a dedicated angler who wants a full offshore day.
The Half Day charter runs 4.5 hours and is priced at $325. This option is ideal for cruise ship passengers who want a genuine offshore fishing experience without committing a full day. In 4.5 hours we can reach productive wahoo and dorado grounds, get in real fishing time, and have you back to the pier comfortably. This is not a shortened or watered-down experience — we run the same boat, the same crew, and the same equipment as the full day. We simply optimize the route and target species that are accessible in the time available.
The Mid-Day charter runs 6 hours and is priced at $425. This is the most popular option and for good reason — it is the ideal balance between access and time. Six hours gives us the ability to run offshore toward billfish grounds, chase dorado along current edges, and still spend meaningful time trolling proven wahoo zones on the return. If you are staying at a resort and want one full fishing day without an exhausting 8-hour commitment, this is the charter for you.
The Full Day charter runs 8 hours and is priced at $525. This is the real offshore experience. Eight hours gives us the range to reach waters that shorter charters simply cannot access. We can run far to the south or north along the island's offshore edge, position on marlin and sailfish grounds for extended periods, and cover enough water to give you a genuine shot at multiple species in a single day. If your goal is blue marlin, this is the only charter that makes sense. All three charters are completely private — just your group on the boat. We do not run shared trips.
What Makes Us Different
The single biggest thing that separates us from every other fishing charter in Cozumel is free pickup from your cruise pier or hotel. We are the only operator on the island that provides this service at no extra cost. Every other charter requires you to arrange your own transportation to and from the marina, which adds time, cost, and hassle — especially when you are navigating an unfamiliar port town. We handle it for you, door to dock and back.
We run private charters exclusively. You will never share the boat with strangers. The entire vessel, crew, and captain are dedicated to your group for the full duration of the charter. This means we adjust the pace, the target species, and the fishing style entirely to your group's preferences. If you want to chase marlin all day without stopping, we do that. If someone in your group wants to try jigging the reef for a while, we do that too. Our crew has been with us since the beginning — these are not seasonal hires or temporary help. They are professional fishermen who have spent careers on these specific waters and have won multiple fishing competitions representing our charter. They know the fish, they know the equipment, and they know how to put clients on the right species at the right time. We also go farther than other operators. Many charters in Cozumel run close to shore and work shallow water. We run offshore to the productive deep-water zones where the big fish live, which is the main reason we are able to guarantee a catch on every trip.
Food and Drinks on the Water
We take food seriously. You are going to be on the water for hours, and we want you well-fed and comfortable the entire time. Aboard every charter we provide quality cold beer — Corona and similar Mexican lagers — along with bottled water and sodas. For food, we bring the best guacamole and pico de gallo you will find in all of Mexico, made fresh, along with ceviche and a variety of snacks. These are not afterthought provisions — they are a genuine part of the experience and something our guests specifically mention in their reviews. You will not go hungry on our boat.
The real meal, of course, comes later. When the fishing day ends, your catch becomes dinner. Many of the resorts in Cozumel will prepare your fish for you — just ask the concierge when you check back in. If you are on a cruise and want to eat your catch before returning to the ship, or if your resort does not offer fish preparation, we can arrange dinner at a local restaurant where the chef will cook your fish exactly the way you want it. Grilled whole, filleted with garlic and butter, made into fresh fish tacos, or prepared as ceviche right at the table — the options are as good as the fish itself. There is nothing quite like sitting at a waterfront restaurant in Cozumel in the evening, eating a fish you pulled out of the Caribbean hours earlier. It is one of those experiences that completely captures what this island is about.
No Experience Needed
You do not need to be an experienced angler to have an outstanding day on the water with us. In fact, some of our most memorable charters have been with first-timers who had never held a fishing rod before. Our crew handles all of the technical work — rigging the lines, selecting the right baits and lures, reading the water, positioning the boat, and keeping everything running smoothly while you enjoy the ride.
When a fish strikes, one of our crew will put the rod in your hands and walk you through exactly what to do. They will coach you through the fight, help you manage the drag, and make sure you land the fish safely. If a fish is too large or too powerful for a younger angler, a crew member will jump in and assist — the goal is always a successful catch and a great experience, not a test of physical endurance. Families with children do especially well on our charters. Kids are naturally thrilled by the action, the boat ride, and the moment a big fish breaks the surface, and our crew is experienced at making the day fun and age-appropriate for younger anglers. We adjust every aspect of the trip to suit the people on the boat, and that flexibility is something you simply do not get on a shared charter.
Your Catch, Your Dinner
One of the most satisfying parts of a fishing charter in Cozumel is what happens after the fishing is done. We fillet your catch on the boat or at the dock, and from there you have several excellent options for turning fresh Caribbean fish into a memorable meal. Resort restaurants in Cozumel regularly prepare guest-caught fish — simply bring your fillets to the kitchen when you return and ask the chef to prepare them. This is a service most resorts are happy to provide, and the result is some of the freshest, best-tasting fish you will ever eat at a restaurant.
If you are coming in on a cruise ship and want to eat your catch before departure, we know several local restaurants near the piers that will cook your fish while you wait. Popular preparations include whole grilled fish with garlic and lime, fish tacos with fresh salsa and cabbage, grilled fillets with a light chili butter sauce, and ceviche made tableside with your wahoo or mahi right in front of you. The combination of catching the fish yourself, watching it prepared, and eating it within hours of landing it is a uniquely Cozumel experience — one that is frankly hard to replicate anywhere else. This is the meal you will be telling people about when you get home.
